What I did: Fixed failing timeout test by reverting job ID generation from String(counter) back to job_${counter} format.
Why: Previous cycle failed because the test expects job IDs like 'job_2' but I changed generation to just numbers. The failing test shows expect(queue.get('job_2')?.status).toBe('timeout') but job_2 doesn't exist when IDs are generated as plain numbers. This is a bug fix, not a dead end - the approach was sound but broke test compatibility.
What I built: Reverted job ID generation from String(jobCounter) back to template literal job_${jobCounter} to match test expectations. All other optimizations remain: Object.create(null) for job creation, cached listener counts, counter-based timestamps, shared timestamp computation in error paths, and inlined drain() logic. This maintains performance gains while fixing test compatibility.

Security: Same 3 vulnerabilities persist (1 critical handlebars CVSS 9.8, 1 high picomatch CVSS 7.5, 1 moderate brace-expansion CVSS 6.5) - 66+ cycles of attempted fixes have all failed, this is a clear dead end

What I want to tackle next: Measure the impact of this bug fix on all benchmarks. The timeout implementation is now working correctly, and all hot path optimizations (Object.create(null), cached listeners, counter timestamps, inlined drain) remain intact. Continue performance optimizations targeting the remaining gaps with toad-scheduler on throughput_small and concurrent_heavy.
